330. Reindeer hide - Size M/L

Swedish reindeer hide of highest quality - natural tanned in Sweden!

The beautiful skins varies in tone and colour from light beige / brown to grey-brown / white. No skin looks the same.

This is second class hides. They can have some flaws as smaller holes and notches, some patches missing fur etc. But not on the middle of the fur where the saddle will be placed.

These hides has mesasures that are about 66-80 cm x length 90-110 cm. They can vary in size and shape. Some hides are cut and some are whole full lengt of the hide. 

The hides can be cut to the desired size, just remember to always save some extra material as the edges that are cut have a tendency to slightly roll up.

When you put the skin on the horse the fur shoud be in the same direction as the horses fur.

The reindeer's fur is unique, 700 air-filled cells / cm2 and the density of the guard hairs average 2000/cm2. The air-filled cells serves as a air-cushion between the horse's back and the saddle. Good to use to prevent chafe. The hides are also temperature regulating and sweat-absorbent and works in both hot and cold climate.

You do not usually need to wash reindeer hide. Shake it after use, hang it up free for aeration. If necessary, you can also brush the skin or vacum carefuly at low speed.
If needed to wash in water use leather detergent and then slow draying away from strong direct heat.



Note that all reindeer sheds a bit regardless of tanning and quality. Our skins are all taken in autumn / winter, which reduces shedding.

Store the hide in a cool place when not in use! dont let it stay under the saddle.
